What a wonderful weekend! Yesterday H and I had our baby shower. I knew I didn't want a ladies tea party; I wanted him to be involved and for us to celebrate the way we like to celebrate. Music, bar going, good company, good energy. We love having parties at our house, and I am sure once baby is here, the frequency of these parties is going to go WAY down, so this was also a chance to have our last "party before baby."
I was lucky to have my wonderful sister and two girlfriends to help make it all pink and cutesy. Two other girlfriends were going to join in on the fun, but one of them came down with a bad cold/flu and another had some serious family stuff going on.
Sister, Big Bird, and kees kees came over at about 2:30. They set up the candy bar, put up decorations, got the flowers and balloons arranged, and lots of other small details. It was so very cute!
Now, some pics for you --
Me, at 36 weeks! This is in front of the mural that I had painted on the baby's wall. Her room is SO precious right now. I'll have to take a round of pics and post them for you this week sometime.
Me, Big Bird, and kees kees. My closest friends from high school. Love these girls :)
One of the beautiful flower arrangements we had. Big Bird has connections, let me tell you. We had flowers in baby shoe arrangements and baby carriage arrangements. The colors and details were fantastic.
The candy bar. A total hit.
Presents. Wow did we get some wonderful stuff. Nothing was just a "meh" gift. Really appreciate all the thought and effort of everyone.
A shot of the backyard. It was such fantastic energy! Everyone called us today to say what a great time they had. Yay, it makes me so happy!
A pic of kees kees, Big Bird, and sister.
A pic of me and my little half sister. She just started wearing her hair like this and it looks so incredible on her! What a little lady!
While everyone came in for the cake, my mom had to do a speech. I told her this wasn't a wedding, but she insisted. H and I were giggling out of the uncomfortable-ness. When I say this woman is excited to be a grandma, I am toning it down a whole lot. I think she looses sleep just thinking about it.
A pic of sister and mama. My true OG familia.
My wonderful step-brother and I. I love this dude.
My other half-sister and I. She is 16 years old - a junior in high school! I was 13 when she was born and remember it like it was a few years ago. She is such a firecracker, an amazing dancer, and an incredible student. I am jealous of all her talents :)
And a final candid of mama and I. Love this lady.
It was such a beautiful party. Last people left around 10 pm, and H and I crashed into bed. I didn't sleep all that hot, but we woke up and cleaned up, and really just took it easy at home today.
Last week of work! And then I am a free woman! Until my baby shows up :)
UPDATE: hope the pics work now!!
