Alone. It's kind of weird - I'm not usually home alone on a Friday. The hubs is away for that thing called work - and tonight the peeps I wanted to see were busy and coming home just sounded kind of awesome. When you are out 2-3 nights during the week, and working, and commuting, it's just nice to veg out. Lay like vegetables (which movie?).
Anyways - so what am I doing? I'm such a bad girl. I threw a fabulous indiv. pizza in the oven - courtesy of Trader Joe's, opened a bottle of wine, and threw the PJs on. I had a tiring week - in the sense that I just felt heavy about life. Do you have weeks like that? I went through a week of swaying between being overly emotional/sensitive about things to being numb or unattached. It's tiring to be like that. It's probably PMS but bleh - no me gusto!
Anyways, so what am I doing? Researching a vacation. I almost have no faith in myself, as I've been planning a vacation for the hubs and I for months and as of yet, nothing. And hot damn, I used to be SO GOOD at it! I planned a great trip for my girlfriend and I through Italy a few years back - and we saw everything!! Paris (ok, that's France!), Genoa, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Roma, Firenze, Capri, Positano, and Lake Como. Heaven. I dream about that beauty all the time. I also planned a trip for h and I to Costa Rica - awesomeness. Tabacon and Manuel Antonio. We wen't to Huahine and Bora Bora of French Polynesia for our honeymoon. And now I've hit a damn slump.
We want to go to the Caribbean. But there are so.many.islands! How do you choose the right one? I'm a Google-monster (or so my husband tells me), so I love researching things online. Normally the right spot pops up! Great hotel, amazing beach, good reviews, prices we can deal with. But the Caribbean is either cheap and gross or kill-me expensive and beautiful. NOTHING in between worth considering. We spent a shitload per night on our honeymoon, but it was our honeymoon. That happens once. Do you have any suggestions for the Bahamas/Caribbean?

Um, OK? Sign me up! And this hotel has amazing amenities and rooms and they are offering quite a good deal on it. Cali boy and Cali girl are always up for a good deal. Maybe everything is coming together on the Caribbean after all??
Tomorrow I'm getting my hair did. I wish my camera worked. I'd take a pic for ya ;)

I wish I had recs. That's a part of the world I haven't yet explored (except for Spring Break in the Bahamas back in college).
Ooo, ooo, ooo!!! Pretty Woman!!! That's one of my favorite movies ever -- if not THE favorite.
I don't think you've lost your mojo on planning trips, you're just trying to find the direction. Once you choose the place, I'm sure you'll come up with a zillion & 1 fabulous things to do.

i've been to the caribbean many a time, but always stayed at very mediocre resorts due to my mom's timeshare trades. atlantis in the bahamas is great but a bit overpriced...plus bahamas is a bit over-touristy.
oops, didn't finish. my favorite island so far out of the bahamas, st. maarten/st. martin, and aruba has been aruba. it's a bit far, but it's outside of the hurricane areas, beautiful, and i remember one hotel whose beach and pool we used being pretty nice.
my east coast friends that frequent the caribbean loved dominican republic and puerto rico.
I knew it was julia roberts! (i could picture her saying it, i just could'nt place which movie!)
those are the best nights. far too rare, but always to be enjoyed.
haven't been to the carribean yet, so i have no recs, but i'm sure you'll find something fabulous. just keep at it with google and it'll all work out :)

I've heard St. Martin/St. Maarten is nice and reasonably priced (for the Caribbean). Bermuda isn't exactly in the Caribbean, but it's a nice island. Grand Cayman is beautiful and can be had for not a bunch. Puerto Rico is pretty, but be aware that some resorts may not be too fabulous. Heard good things about the El San Juan and not good things about the El Conquistador.

went to Aruba for our honeymoon and I thought it was nice...nice, not dreamy like you're looking for. Good luck on finding something...can't wait to find out what you decide on!
We did Aruba for our honeymoon too. We loved it and hope to one day (maybe) buy a timeshare there. Not sure what you're looking for though. I've heard good things about St. Marteen, St. Lucia, Puerto Rico, Dominican (that's where I'd probably go want to go), and Grand Cayman. Don't know anyone who's been to Curacao but maybe check that out? Good luck! I'm sure wherever you go it'll be amazing. :)
